this is something i need to do aswell had a look and its in a awful position for now i have a gps speedo but any tips would be good

Well I've never (touch wood) changed one.
But have seen one removed but that was with a big hammer, and guess what
It snapped,
My suggestion would be remove the fixing both then loads and loads of wd40, then leave it, letting it soak in then with a very thin bladed screw driver, try and ease it up
Ask Aaron how he changed his, he may be able to put a view on it,
There again if it not working does it matter if you damage it while removing it
