16v service advice
Hi Guys. I’ve got a 16v no service history. It’s not long turned 60000. I’ve been saving up my pennies. I’m planning timing belt & Kit gates, air & fuel filter, plugs & ht leads, fuel & water pump, oil & filter. Is there anything thing else that I should be looking to get done at the same time.

Hi ya, if it’s only done 60000 I should hold off on the fuel and water pump unless you’ve been having problems. Definitely do the cam belt and all the filters, also the auxiliary belts. And HT leads, plugs, oil and filter of course

Re: 16v service advice
Ok, the engine might be covered by the above,
But what about the rest of the car

Gearbox oil, when was that last changed

Brake Fluid, what colour is it

Anti freeze

Then refill with new antifreeze
Brakes- when where they last stripped down to ensure they work properly, check pad&disc wear

Exhaust system, for leaks, corrosion, hangers&rubbers
While the wheels are off, check the tyres & rims, especially the inside

Lights, wipers, Windscreen washers& horn all in working order
Steering fluid, not the easiest to change, but it’s worth thinking about, if the steering is a bit hard, again check the level& for an leaks
CV boots for splits, drop links&wish none ball joints for wear&movement
Have I missed anything

The above are also applicable to 24v cars

Re: 16v service advice
Please remember, on the 16v the car Belt need to come off to change the water pump,
List not that bad, I plan to do most of that tomorrow to my 16v Teal, as long as the weather holds
