Post by KEG » Wed Mar 19, 2025 1:54 pm

I have been advise that my head gaskets need replacing. Plus the bolts. I see that there are several options on the internet but has anyone purchased anything online and it has been successful? Need a full gasket set.

I purchased mine from RockAuto, when I believed that the head gasket was leaking, to be honest I don’t think it was!

Why do they say that it has “gone”

Hi

As far as I can gather it’s this.

If exhaust gases are present, the test fluid will “sniff” the gases as they are pulled through the fluid. If the blue fluid turns yellow or green, exhaust gases are leaking into the coolant system, and a head gasket repair is required. If fluid remains blue, exhaust gases are not present in the cooling system.

Thing is it’s not over heating. The oil looks fine not milky on dipstick, radiator cap dry, no white smoke from exhaust.

Don’t know. Will find out.
At the moment the garage is sourcing a head gasket set and of course the bolts. These will have to probably come separate from the gasket set. Don’t know. Hopefully they are available.

I’ve had a look on there. There are several bolts listed can you point m in the right direction to which ones fit? Do these parts come from the USA? I’ve also looked on Autodoc for the head gasket set plus the bolts. They seem to be available if pricey.
Again not sure which bolts are the right size. Is there a particular thread size etc.
