Hi everyone.
1996 Ford Probe. 2.5 V6
The probe passed his MOT yesterday but I am a bit concerned about one of the advisories.
Blue smoke on acceleration I have looked up the possibilities and it’s says to check the seals and piston rings.
is it something I should be worried about.
The Tester told me it’s because I don’t take it out enough. To be fair it has only done about 50 miles in the last year!!
I know I’m supposed to take it out more.
I have taken the probe to the same garage for years and they know it quite well now.
Emissions always a pain, but eventually always passes.
No smoke any other time. Always very clear.
He has a small oil leak that as of yet I haven’t managed to pin down.
Any advice would be gratefully received.

Re: MOT advisories
Hi
I would guess that the leak is probably a rocker cover gasket
As for the blue smoke, it might be just due to where it has been standing, if all you do is taking it from home to the garage and it’s only done 50 miles then it’s possible.
I would take it for more of a run or let it tick over for a bit once in a while. The other option is that it could be the rings, you can try a cleaner, but sometimes that can cause you more issues, otherwise it’s a fairly big job to replace them.

Thanks Micron.
I have replaced the gaskets twice since I have had him.
Never seems to be any oil in that area.
Going to get him on the trolley jack and have a good look underneath.
