Window switch lights
Morning all, I have a question.
The lights in the window switches on my '95 24v don't work, and never have to my recollection. Not a big problem thinks me, so I purchase some LED replacements off of AliExpress.
No joy, so I figure the LEDS are knackered (not unusual for cheap Chinese products) so I bin them and eventually order some traditional bulbs (coloured of course) but still no joy. Put a meter across the contacts and the bulbs are fine. (I saved some of the LEDs and yes, they were in fact knackered, or at least are now.)
I used a different window switch, but still no joy.
I put a digital multi-meter on the loom and I have voltage for central locking, but nothing is live when I turn the lights on. Everything else in the car is working, so unlikely a blown fuse.
I know when I replaced the driver's door prior to painting I had to reinstall the original door loom as they're different between early and late models, so not an incorrect loom problem. Could be a broken wire somewhere I guess, or even a corroded connector in the door connector but other than these, anyone any idea why there's no power to the lights?

Re: Window switch lights
No, ign off but lights on. The centre console switch gear lights up without engine running, so I figured the windows would too.
TBH it's been so long since I had a Probe where the window switch lights actually worked, I can't remember when they came on and when the didn't.

Re: Window switch lights
@Scooby Kev, do you have access to workshop manuals? if you do, I can point you to the correct point, if not I can scan the relevant pages and send them over?
I won't be able to do it until later this evening

Re: Window switch lights
Cheers Trev. I forgot all about the workshop manuals.
I think I've got 5 of them (are there 7 in total) but thanks for the extract. I keep mine in my Father in Laws workshop while my house is being extended and he's away kayaking (had to knock the garage down!!)
4 years on still under construction.

Re: Window switch lights
Well, actually had cause to drive last night, after dark. Turns out the new bulb DOES work, but power comes from the ignition, NOT the lights. Who knew? (Other than Cpt Black apparently!)
