Engine number
I'm having a hell of a time trying to convince various sellers that my car is a 24v probe, for the exhaust. Give my reg no. And they say it won't fit even though advertised as fitting the 24v. A seller is asking for my engine number too, and the V5 says not stated... Where is the engine number physically?

Re: Engine number
Hi Neil
The center section is the same for 24v,as is the back box24v, had different headers from early to late
due to pre cats on them, got mine from here Ebay

Re: Engine number
Thanks, put the listing number I'm and the one I bought came up, even though the seller said 'from the reg no., and if the engine is DOHC it should fit' . The DOHC bit worried me, and I replied telling him the engine code KL, quad cam, 24v etc, but it's posted anyway, I just hope it's a big bore, as the 16v small bore restriction after the cat didn't do my performance or fuel economy much good!

Re: Engine number
It's definitely a 24v but the seller stated the exhaust was ok by the registration number but he also mentioned DOHC, but if I do a search on my registration number it comes back as a 24v, so I don't know where he got DOHC from

Re: Engine number
Oh and I totally removed the casting where the sticker goes as I've polished my inlet manifold

Re: Engine number
Yes I am aware of the difference between quad cam and double overhead cam, I have built enough engines to know the difference, my point is the 24v is NOT A DOHC LIKE THE EXHAUST SELLER INSISTS! I was looking for a foolproof method of ensuring I got the correct part like OEM part number, etc
The 16v is a traditional DOHC, 1 camshaft for 8 inlet valves and 1 per 8 exhaust valves.
The 24v is not a DOHC, QUAD cams each cam operating 6 valves

Re: Engine number
CPT posted it up the top of the thread. It linked straight to the same item I've bought. Copy and paste and search within eBay
