Tyres
Hello,
Over the winter I’m going to get all 4 wheels refurbed and put new tyres on them when done, is there a general consensus of what’s best?
The car is on standard16” wheels, 1995 24v
Regards
Trevor

Re: Tyres
Probabaly based on the mileage you are likely to do, I would say anything that suits your budget, because if you are not careful the age of the tyres could become an issue before the tread wears out?

Re: Tyres
Good point worth considering!
Certainly no more than 2k miles a year I reckon, the car will only be on the road in the summer months and then put back in the garage so not many at all really.
Thank you

Re: Tyres
we say that, but I just replaced the wheels that came with the car, shod with no-name Chinese tyres, with the wheels I got from Gavin (twilight-rider) which have Pirellis fitted, there is a marked difference in handling and I'm no pro. I also swapped Evergreens for Toyos on the Saab and again the difference is noticeable from memory an extra £7 per corner.
I'd say get the best you can afford, its the only thing that's keeping you on the road and out of the ditch!

Re: Tyres
I put Avons on a couple of cars and was not impressed with their grip levels, especially when pulling away I found it to easy to spin the wheels compared to the ones that were on before which were a less well known brand and often a bit worn.

Re: Tyres
Thank you, I had Pirelli P1's on my TT and they were probably the best tyre I've had but the car certainly went through them!! I am probably going to go for a decent mid range I reckon as I don't want a ditch finder but don't need to spend full whack either!!simps wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 4:42 pmwe say that, but I just replaced the wheels that came with the car, shod with no-name Chinese tyres, with the wheels I got from Gavin (twilight-rider) which have Pirellis fitted, there is a marked difference in handling and I'm no pro. Steering away from Dunlops... my Jag came with them and they were already perishing around the edges after 3 years!!
Nexen or Kumo seem like a good bet looking online.
