Front end clunk. 1995 16v.

Post by eric56m » Tue Aug 03, 2021 7:16 pm

Recently had front strut top mounts replaced, now a 'clunking ' sound has appeared from the front, presumably driver's side as the gap between wheel and arch is greater than all the others. Could this be linked to previous repair ?. Just curious as it's going in for 'clunk' correction tomorrow. To add insult to injury my son had been working away from home, returning yesterday, his pal ,whom he hasn't seen for ages, came to pick him up this morning and put a dent in the driver's side door.

Were the struts refitted with the mounts the same way around?

Also check your droplinks

Doesn't sound right that you have different heights! Might you have a broken spring on the low side. Also worn CV joints clunk but that's quite distinctly CV joints.
