Rewinding rear calipers

Post by MikeyG » Sun Jul 04, 2021 4:55 pm

Brand new rear calipers, neither retracts nor extends, means I'm probably doing something wrong. No brake fluid as I thought it's mechanical, tried bleeder open, closed, everything. The Allan screw in the back just turns with no success.

Hard to believe but if it's happening.....................
Choice is send them back or take apart and find out what's wrong.

It's bonkers that it's both of them. I've taken the Allan screw out the back and its brand new - and the teeth inside look good too. Really bizzare. The old (I'm guess O.E) still operates fine! I've tried the Allan screws in that one and it works too. Struggling to think what else to try.

You shouldn't have been able to take that screw out until you removed a very deep recessed circlip.
Did you do that ?

The Allen screw will come out, if you can get the Allen key to stay in it as you pull it out.

When the screw goes in, is it mating with the worm gear that makes the piston move?
