Here here the sense brigade .we are one we do it for the love of doing it and enjoying it or why do it again and again I've lost count of how many times I've spent out on a project and say never again but it starts all over again . 45 now and still lying in the road the neighborhood all talking shy don't they just buy a modern car . I do it to see there faces when I burbul past , stereo on and smiling as I drive something fun and individual . The standard vs modified question will go on and on.....
I do like modified / personalised, but obviously standard is the gold standard.
However, both are equally important.
if you can retain good examples of both then it keeps the car alive in more age groups and its always important to do that.
I have a Blue which is being returned to standard.
I have a red scrapper with destroyed cills,
this is now a project car and is undergoing major modification,
the only cabriolet in the country to my knowledge.
work ongoing, but if i can it back on the road then what does the mods matter.....
And lastly a current red, modified with lacquer peel in need of some TLC
so there is no wrong or right,
Just keep them on the road..........

Ill throw my hat into the ring, I would wrap a car Its just not worth it, (My opinion) I`ve seen people pay a fortune on wrapping and it still can be an issues, if caught by belts keys etc.
Having a car painted can be expensive, but when I get my car fully re-sprayed it cost me £2000.00, £1000.00 was labour, £333.33 was vat £166.67 glass removed and refitted, Paint and materials £500.00
But you could reduce the cost by preparing the car yourself saving a boat load of money.
I would Re-spray every time.

Here it is. Can't remember the mileage but not much above delivery. All in all it was near pristine but had a few minor scratches on the boot. I spotted some oxide on the sun visor brkt and Malcolm fount some evidence of mice but it was otherwise showroom condition. I dont know if the buyer was aware but though the engine started ok there were no warning lights showing on the cluster so someone has bypassed a big problem somewhere. To get it through an mot youd need to find the bodge then fix the fault so it might be a can of worms. For my money it went to a private collection to preserve the mileage etc so driving it might be the last thing on his mind. That and an Aston Martin were the most vigorous lots of the day.

It looked handsome. If it was a 2.5, 1996 onward and a different colour I'd have stumped up the £7000. It was a new car for less than half price!
