An odd shape pipe or has it collapsed?

As per the title, noticed a cooling pipe that looks and feels like its lost its structural shape but I could be wrong. Cars holding temperature ok and water seems to be flowing through ok.

Should it look like this or should I source a replacement?

I'd say the Pipe has gone weak so if it were me i'd replace it

A collapsed pipe like that is caused by a partial vacuum in the system.
Usually, the rad filler cap should have a 'vacuum release' valve in it, worth checking in this case because even a new pipe will show the same
symptoms if that VRV isn't working.

Pipe feels proper soft in the middle so I think I'd agree with Jon on replacing but like pointed out by jrh ive since read that rad caps are often the cause so think one of those won't go amiss either.

I risk sounding utterly stupid now... There are two twist off caps, one above the radiator reservoir and another just up from this pipe on top of a housing. Which one is classed as the rad cap?.....ive a few old Fords but the Japanese set up in this is noting like what's in the others I have.

I would replace both caps on the system along with the pipe you can use 2
spring type caps

Thank you cpt black! One is sprung one is not so I shall get a pair of the sprung kind ordered up.

My understanding is that the "Rad" cap would be the one near the header tank and has the spring on it allowing it to expand, when the car gets too hot and thus water escapes to the header tank. The other one is more for filling and making sure there is no air in the system, it's the one we all use to fill it up.
But as said you can fit sprung caps to both.

Exactly, when the engine gets hot the water expands beyond the 'cool' capacity of the system and it goes into the vented ( to atmosphere ) expansion bottle.
Then, when the system cools down it gets sucked ( pushed really ) back into the system again.
So yes, if that rubber pipe has lost it's ' memory' to go back to a cylinder shape then just replacing it will cure your problem.
If the new pipe collapses then the rad cap has a faulty valve in it.
