Keep the leads attached to the dis cap.
Remove the distributor, do not worry , it will only fit back the right way when you take it off.
Even if the engine is turned accidentally.

24v on the left, with the offset ‘dog’ to locate idiot proof
16v on the right, cog drive, take a bit of skill to set up
