check the catalytic converter, I remember somebody have a lot of white smoke and no running good and when we check the cat was solid.

If you can't find then on ebay, try Rockauto's, under Mazda mx6,, same as Ford probe, only front available under Ford probe,

I'm with Kev, check the pipe under the the battery.
Then have somebody push the pedal while you watch the slave cylinder to see if it's working fully,
I'm did the same, I had the change the slave, but also the master had to the changed.

Finally side lights are now working thanks the to Trevor, (Micron) He trace the fault to the wire from the fuse to the relay, under the main fuse box, He hade to take the main fuse box out and replace to wire that feeds the reley from the fuse. Glad he came up and sorted it. I'm not good reading ele...
