Sunroof advise please!
Hi, I have the rusty sunroof issue. I'd like to replace it with a nice clean one, dont mind it being a fibre glass one but have had no luck finding one. If anyone has one for sale I'd be very interested in buying it straight away. If not will have to go down the route of having it fixed. Any advise on how I can get my one sorted or replaced and how much it would cost to sort?
Any advise would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi Leon.
I was very disappointed with my glass fibre sunroof. It had a very poor surface that needed a lot of prep work but worst of all was that it flexed so much it would never shut properly. I repaired my spare tin one in the end and that is what I would recommend if in any way possible. What might seem a challenge to a novice might not be a challenge to a good body shop.
I prepped it by grinding out all the rotten metal with a die grinder then I got into all the cracks and fissures to convert the inaccessible rust with VACTAN. Very good stuff. Then I had it shot blasted before giving it to the bodyshop the same day. One or two holes but they sorted that no problem. It now looks perfect!

Re: Sunroof advise please!
Hi Kit, thanks for the advise. I called some body shops but non of them sounded very convincing, from what I understand the sunroof is a challenging job and could risk further damage if not done with someone that knows what they're doing. Do you have any that you can recommend? I don't mind travelling if I have to. Finding a replacement tin roof is proving really difficult too. Also how much should I expect to pay if I do find a replacement?
Thanks again for the advise.
Leon.

I've a fibre glass one on my car which is ok, and a grp carbon fibre one tucked away in spares which to be fair looks better than the one I have on.

Re: Sunroof advise please!
£20 that must be for a ‘rough rusty’ one
Double, easily for a good one
Fibre Glass one, that’s about right

Yes mate, I meant £20 for a steel rough one , I'd say the same as a fibre glass one if good £100 really as fit better
