Coolant filler cap
Does anyone know where I can get a coolant filler cap? The one for the top of the engine that doesn’t have the pressure release spring.
Mine got fried when the engine overheated. If I can’t get a new one does anyone know where I can get an old one to modify and put a new seal in it?
Thanks
Kevin

Sorry guys I don’t have a probe (yet ) I’m asking questions here because I get better responses than on the US Mazda forum.

The one for the top never did have a pressure spring, but you can fit one if you like.Bikergonebald wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 12:24 pmDoes anyone know where I can get a coolant filler cap? The one for the top of the engine that doesn’t have the pressure release spring.

I’m not intending to fit a pressure spring I just need a standard cap with a good seal.
I did try the spring type, it fitted but was loose and didn’t make a seal.

Follow what malcolm said then.
There are a couple of MX6's on Ebay at present that you could get the reg number from just in case

That rubber seal under the cap is actually a removable 'washer'.
Just pull at the outside and you will see it stretch over that centre piece.
Now go find an old bicycle inner tube and make yourself a new one.
ALWAYS smear the faces with Silicone grease to stop it sticking and tearing.
Job done, you're up and running again.

Re: Coolant filler cap
Great thanks, I will try that.
Since mojo98 posted the pics of the Australian cap I’ve found out that a lot of big Nissans use the same cap including a Navara 2.5d and those caps seem to be listed in the uk.
If I found out for sure I will let everyone know.
