Laser Tint Red Paint
Hi all , hope everyone well and staying safe , I am looking for a bit of advice on paint please , my 97 Probe is Laser Tint Red , it is pending a full respray and has had some bits and bobs done so is not far away , does anyone know if there is a paint close to Laser Tint Red that could be used instead as i am being told original paint is discontinued and now needs to be a 3stage pearl paint .... I am not up on paint so don’t know what this means , apparently it’s a pain and a nightmare should the car need touched up at anytime after , anyone help please , any advice much appreciated
Re: Laser Tint Red Paint
Laser tint is a beautiful colour but you cannot easily touch it up.
Basically it is a silver undercoat and the colour is actually made up by the translucent red top coat.
this gives the end colour that pearlescent sparkly effect.
But as said, if you get a nasty scratch its repaint the whole panel.
plus it takes a great deal of skill to then match to the adjoining panels.
sorry no easy fix.....
so if you want the sparkly effect then there is no alternative to my knowledge.
these type of paint effects are two or three stages.
they are not base colours.
but dont be detered by 3 stage paint jobs,
you get what you pay for, and the result speaks for itself....
untill you need a touchup..... lol
