Starter motor 2.0 or 2.5

Post by gav0067 » Thu Jun 07, 2018 2:58 pm

Hope image is showing what is this starter for 2.0 or 2.5?

Are they different?

Is there a difference between late and early?

Do both 2.0 and 2.5 share the same starter motor?

Cheers, seems to be some confusion I bought a 2.5 93-98 starter motor remanufactured and it’s completely different to mine. Do you have the part number from the black one?

Sorry just need to be sure is it anything like this M1T75581
And is the 16v a completely different part number ie no M1T
Just the company have said they’ve got the right one but it looks more like the 16v in your picture

There are a few other No’s , stamped into the casting, I was thinking these are Ser. no’s
I’ll have a look when I get back home.

But the 16v does have a shorter “nose”, for the drive cog

All sorted ford no. is M1T75581 Mazda is M1T77081 thank you Kev cpt black 😘

Thank you guys for the response, still puzzled as to what the hell this one came from but certainly not one of ours (maybe a gen1🤷🏻‍♂️). I’ve given the numbers across and their sending a replacement (hopefully correct). It seems I’ll be at fest in a Vauxhall 😢

The picture is really fuzzy but I think I found it on ebay. They have a listing for a USA 2.2 probe, didnt know there was one and it looks like that.
I was told never to trust the ebay compatability guide as it is not correct.
I am not saying you didnt check but I aways use suppliers that insist you give your vehicle details first.
Anyway hopefully you get it sorted.
Am I right in thinking back in the day I would jump start the car and keep it running until I got back, parking on a hill if I had to stop so I could roll it.
And didnt you used to hit them with a hammer.
Way back in the day.lol

2.2 was the gen1 I believe. Think the solenoid has gone on mine so a hammer wouldn’t help, I did use to do that with a Sierra I had many years ago. Saved me a few quid for about six months 🤣. Haven’t tried bump start, live on flat ground to lazy to push🤷🏻‍♂️

I had a few Sierras but it was the escort mk1 it worked on best.I seem to have had a knack for living on hills!!And in my younger years had a=the best breakdown service ever...My Dad.Many a time I was stuck behind in on a tow rope which was scary as he just flew round the country lanes so i became an expert on being towed!!
