Ideas please

Post by fuerte » Mon Jun 04, 2018 3:25 pm

I leave conservatory door open in the day so my dog can wander at will into the garden.just jumped out my skin as I went to go in there there was a magpie.
Words cannot describe my fear of birds.
I slammed the sliding door shut and it flew out
Any ideas to stop it getting in.
I have hung cds outside before but mom said magpies like shiny things.
Thought of only leaving sliding door open just the width of my dog but in panic would one still go through there.
I have a net curtain I can try and see if my dog will still go out.
Any other ideas.
I hate the flapping and theres loads of birds about and big too, pigeons aswell.
Call me a baby I am.I dont scream but I loudpy aarged.

What about one of the fly screen things, they used to be multi coloured plastic strips, you just walk through them, but should keep the birds out and not shiney

Thats an idea. They used to be in kitchens back in the day for some reason.
Had a look on amazon and there are various bird scarers with varied reviews.
They say some are scared off by noise.
When I have slept on it will try and rig up a few things myself to see what works.
My pest controller killing himself laughing as he had to talk me through letting a bird out of squirrel trap on the phone and he heard the state I get in.
Made his day

Not heard of those so will have a look.
Found microns suggestion on ebay and some good string or string and bead type things..supposed to stop flies too.
For now you will laugh but stetched clothes line in their flight path and hung strips of foil from it as temporary measure as apparently reflection is supposed to put them off after all.Not seen a bird since.
In my bedsit I taped thick net over the windows but need to use the door here.
Dont know how common it is but they always get in my houses.
Cheers for tips.
If it had been 2 magpies it wouldnt have been so bad.lol.not.
