Advice seeked from a 24V owner

Post by Kit » Thu May 31, 2018 11:29 pm

Hi all,
Just saved a 24V from that was one step away from the brakes yard, as the garage space was needed.
But I notice it's got a few boots missing from the cam cover area,

I was hoping I could have the advice of a 'passing 24V owner', as to what's missing (thinking about it, it just Mircon, who could help locally), size of bolts etc

Also the general running of the engine.

Changed the mid section of the exhaust, to day, as it was blowing a bit on the corrosion on the hanger&flange.
( Bit more welding practice for me)
But old section had 2 silencers :bigshock: , an extra one where it bends, under the car, never seen that before, photos tomorrow

General running, just keep the oil level spot on ,too much finds the leaks , too little kills it. Change oil/filter every 6/7000.
Check water levels often. Put silicone grease on the filler cap rubber.
Jap cambelts should last over 100k miles, not the 60k Ford advise. Other types, don't know.
That's it.

Bolts may be missing aa the place they go into has got threaded think thats the word. Had it one of mine and I think the term is got it rebored?
Totally agree keep oil on f.And frequent
oil changes. Also I would suggest changing coolant so you know new and blue not red.But I suppose thats the same as16v.
I am anal I do a lot of preventative stuff with a new car such as spark plug changes HT leads but I like to start off on knowing the basics covered.
Great to hear you have new car.

Well that was the plan, when there’s. car that needed to be saved, I had to step in, to save it going to the breakers yard.

Jan always wanted a 24v again :-" :-" :-"

To get to some of those bolts/screws ( without dropping the engine a little , which can crack your exhaust flexible if you don't disconnect it ) you need
to be a direct relative of Houdini.
