cambelt 2.0 16v 1994

Post by Mada » Tue Dec 03, 2019 9:32 am

Hey all,

Looking at doing some maintenance on the famous 'rat probe' this winter. Got a cambelt from Andy when i bought the car, what else would you recommend changing at same time? Water pump? Pulleys?

cheers

Adam

I'd do the Water Pump and possibly the Idler if the Bearing doesn't feel great.
Also the Tensioner Spring on the Idler is a must on a 16V 8-)

As per Jon G says, plus check the state of the Aux belts while messing about in the engine bay, :D

The water pump can’t be replaced without taking the cam belt off, so its a “must”, to do it at the same time.

Remember, make sure you lock those cams in place, or your lose the timing.
A couple of ‘mole grips’ does the job
