Speaker sizes/types

Post by Sheridan » Fri Jun 09, 2023 2:34 pm

Hi all,

My rear speakers are a little crackly, does anyone have any suggestions for replacements? Now it's getting warmer I'd like to cruise the streets with the windows down and Milli Vanilli playing on volume 11.

Thanks,
John

I’ve got some OME ones here, as well, if Andy can supply or not on his road trip

These are a direct fit for the rears (no drilling etc fit right in)
I bought the Alpine 6.5" speakers for the front but had to drill new holes

Thanks! I'll get me some of those. Any tips on removing the trim to get to them? Are the cables just plug n play? no soldering etc

I started by removing plastic trim panels from the boot and working forwards.. I broke a couple of the little grey clips but got some from Halfords in black & used those where you can't see them (ie near rear seatbelts) You'll see where I mean when you do it.
I connected new wires with connector blocks, the speakers come with short wires to clip to speaker. Used the original screws for new speakers. Put everything back together with a dab of silicone on the tabs to stop annoying rattles (done that on door trims and centre console too lol - Can't stand rattling)

Hope that helps, took me a couple of hours
