Lazy rev counter
Hi all,
Whacked a massive pot hole, hell of a bang on the poor car, nearly fell in it was so deep!!! Straight after was having rev counter problem….it’s as if it’s gone lazy, will move but no more than around 2500 RPM. Was doing 1500 Rpm at 70mph in fourth at one point.
I’d appreciate if anyone can give any pointers on the right direction.
1995 2.5 24v model, manual trans.
Thanks all
Si

Re: Lazy rev counter
Maybe you have disturbed the connection to the speed sensor?
Apart from this issue does it still drive ok, does it now pull to one side?

Re: Lazy rev counter
It is in one of the worst place’s possible, on top of the gearbox, BUT you have to remove a few things to stand any chance of getting near it!
Try and have a look with a powerful light to see if you can locate it.

That’s a good point Duncan, I do wonder if they are connected in some way?
It’s worth a check of the dizzy connections Si.

Re: Lazy rev counter
I’ve not checked, I’ll lift the bonnet tomorrow for a closer look.
What am I looking for?….loose connection or is it a sign the dizzy cap is failing?
