A few Issues

Post by Tonylids » Thu Jan 21, 2021 1:13 pm

I've just bought a 1995 2.5 which seems OK (so far) but there are a few niggles I want to get sorted and would be really grateful for some help and advice...
Should the central locking work off of a fob? I've got an immobiliser fob but at the moment the locking can only be operated by the key?
Tail gate struts seems to be a common issue and mine are gone too. Can these be bought anywhere or are they interchangeable with something from another car?
The offside sill moulding is damaged which I hope can be repaired but, if not, are these available anywhere
Other than that, it's just neglected!

Sorry, one other thing...

Is my white paintwork Ford Diamond White or did the Probe get a different shade as a result of not having it's roots in the UK?

Thanks again!

Hi Tony and welcome to the club.
if your fob is just for the immobiliser then, no it will not open the doors, it was never an option, you would have to retro fit something.
As for the tail struts, ask in the wanted section, Kit normally has a few sets
Speak with CPT Black as regards to sill panels

Welcome to the club Tony,
Members normally bypass the immobiliser, due to it can knock out the dizzy, (problem on early models) procedure to bypass it is in the Oracle but I believe only full members can access, (full membership is £10).
And yes kit is the man to see for spares

If you have an OME fob, & it’s an early car.
It only for the immobiliser.

Yes, you can fit an aftermarket remote locking, I have it on my 24v
