Sunroof help

Post by M4rksc » Tue Dec 22, 2020 3:40 pm

Hi all. This is a 2 part question. Firstly has anybody experienced a very annoying clunk above your head whilst driving you probe. It sounds like its something on the sunroof mechanism but after removing the roof lining nothing appears loose? Also can the sunroof be adjusted to stop it bouncing up when I close the door?

Thanks

Yes, the sunroof is adjustable :)

Have you taken the roof lining off :?:

It may be one of the bolts loose, that hold the sunroof tray to the roof

Yes the roof lining is out. The main nuts that hold the tray in are nice and tight. I see 4 nuts in each corner which can be turned by hand but I think they adjust the height of the roof panel. How does one adjust the lid so it doesnt bounce??

Have you got the “u” shape shims between the sunroof panel & the sliding gear?

Yes. Am I right in thinking the go between the panel and the slider it attaches to. It has 2 or them. Both on the rear of the panel. But none on the front.

There is A ‘Chilton’ manual, i’ve got one somewhere.
& of course the 4 volumes of the Ford Workshop Manuals, that sometimes come up for sale

There is adjustment in the sunroof sliding gear, but before I’ve had added extra shims to bring the roof level
