Has it still got the original immobilser :?: or has it been bypassed
if bypassed check the connections on the bypass,or
if you have after market alarm try taking it off
This was going to be my next suggestion

Starter tested and works OK,

Car has had imboliser deleted and never had a issue with it in the past.

Cleaned all the connections up, and still the same as before, it clicks but not turning engine over.

I would check the bypass as the starter motor
Is one of the 3 circuits that gets bypassed did
You check the starter of the car?

If the car is not even turning over, then if you haven't already, you need to attach a meter to the solenoid of the starter motor and see if you get 12v when you turn the key. There is also the possibility that you have a bad earth, maybe on the actual engine. you could try running a separate wire of the correct gauge direct from the battery to the starter motor.

If there is no 12v at the solenoid when you turn the car over, then I agree with Kev, you need to check the moby connections, you have to trace or follow the 12v through the circuit.

Re: 1994 2.0 not starting - Resolved

Hi all got it running now.

Managed to make one good starter out of the two I had, and then fired up right away. Think it was the solenoid that was at fault

Thank you all for your help over the past few days.

I now can take a starter out of a 16v in around 5 minutes! (with the brackets already removed)

So, it is not the battery.
It is not the starter motor.
Then it must be 'something' between the Ignition switch and the connection to the starter solenoid.
Disconnect the lead to the starter solenoid.
Get yourself a 100w headlamp bulb, make one lead to earth, the other from the filament connection to the lead that connects to the starter solenoid
wire you've just disconnected.
Turn ignition switch to start position.
That lamp should be 100% bright.
If it isn't , find the dirty contact.
