Temic immobiliser help

Post by Budz59 » Fri May 29, 2020 2:11 pm

Could cry , my 1997 2.0 Probe was in paint shop , they broke my key in the ignition , not a straight break but they managed to get the key out of the ignition , I got another one cut , tried it myself and yep steering lock off and key turned that was ok but battery was flat , get a call some weeks later to say car is ready , go to pick it up to find car not starting , turning over ok but not firing ... long story short ... trailered home to local garage , no spark , eventually new dizzy , loads of spark but still not starting , looking like the broken key has caused a short , car now with auto electrician who worked on Probes years ago , he is to bu pass the Temic immobiliser but has no wiring diagram ,he ordered one online but it’s American version ... can anyone help please? desperate , spent good money on respray and now this 😢 garage and auto electrician both saying key caused a short when it broke . Thanks in advance

I doubt very much that the broken key caused any 'short circuit'.
If you have a spark then the issue is either timing, or lack of fuel, or both !
Nothing else.
So concentrate on those two items, then come back to us.

Didn’t think you could ‘by-pass’ the temic system :? :?

Car getting fuel , was running perfectly before it went in to get painted , concerning the comment the Temic can’t be bypassed , garage have checked timing etc ,they had car for over a week , it’s now been at auto electrician for almost 2 , at my wits end tbh ..

If the timing is ok, fuel is being injected and it has a spark on all plugs it has to run !
Just double check there are no 'pipes' left disconnected anywhere, behind the MAF box, etc, even the smallest of pipes left off can make it
a 'non-starter'.

Temic & ECU are ‘matched’,
You can’t swap them with out re-programme them.

When you say you got another key did you get a temic key :?: you can tape your old key with the temic part to the
ignition barrel behind the plastic cowl and try your new key ;) Worth a try

Temic key was taped to new key , garage taped it to barrel , the key has a little orange chip in it , is there anyway to get the immobiliser and chip tested ? thanks everyone for your comments so far .

If the Temic wasn't working I don't think the starter would engage, the fuel pump run or the ignition cause a 'spark'.
Just as a test, untape and try it without the Temic key in the car.
