Strut Top

Post by Slick » Wed Apr 25, 2018 5:10 pm

When turning there's a knock coming from the top of the strut. Looks the top mount isn't turning freely with the rest, so bearing gone??

Is it whole strut needed, or just a certain part and strip down??
Are they handed, or same part fits left/right?

For the 16v, and on a 30mm lowered spring.

I've got the same issue, and I'm afraid you have to strip the strut down, the good news the bearing is not handed and will fit either side

Some members have removed the old strut top bearing and opened them clean them and regreased them and refitted them without issue

Ok, so now I have a bearing!
Stupid question I'm guessing, but does the spring have to come off the strut??

And if the answer is yes, is anyone taking a spring compressor to fest by any chance.....?? :-" :-"

I ordered a couple of strut top bearings, but with other things happening (busy busy) didn't get round to changing them
But the issues/problem has gone away after (removing my soap dishes) and filling up the position were the Top nut is with WD40 and leaving it and when it had gone I refilled up the position and with WD40 and now I don't seem to have a Clicking/knocking when turning my steering wheel
