Fuel Gauge

Post by polly » Wed May 01, 2019 7:07 am

My fuel gauge is stuck on full even if I switch the engine off. Has this happened to someone else ? What did they do about it ?
Anyone else have any ideas about this ?

The Gauge is supposed to stick at the Level of Fuel in the Tank when the Engine is off so that's normal.
Gauge reading full all the time could be a Faulty Gauge or it could be the sender unit (Float) in the Tank has stuck in the Full position.

First step for me would be to get a second hand set of Clocks and change the Fuel Gauge Section to see if that help.
If you get the same results with a different Gauge then that would point to the Sender Unit and i think i'm right in saying the Fuel Tank has to be dropped to get to it out, so start with the easy things first ;)

Changing the sender unit in the tank , is a pain :!:
The petrol tank has to be removed from the car, to get to the sender.
( Unless you want to cut a hole in the car floor, under the rear seat).

Hi Polly.

See you might have sorted some Clocks out.
If you need a Hand to fit them send me a PM, i'm only in Leicester so not far from you.
Not here this Weekend but you could pop over anytime after that.
