As part of the prep for the MOT, we bleed 100 mms of new brake fluid, through each wheel and the clutch system. The fluid in the reservoir was nearly black
Wheels off, these bleed fine, just one blocked bleed nipple, all of them turn easily with the ring spanner, & didn't round any of them, Result I thought
Elland 57,, operating The brake pedal as instructed
The clutch was a different story
This fluid was black & took awhile to get fresh fluid though the system.
The we couldn't hold pressure in the system, the pedal goes straight to the floor
Changed the slave cylinder, for a known good one, still no joy
Next step, change the master cylinder, so got a new one on Order from RockAutos, so the car will be off the road till that comes.
Also ordered cylinder repair kit, that coming from Germany ! As a second option
May be only 2 mounting bolts + metal pipe&flexible pipe, but getting to the bolt under dashboard, is a right pain (as CPT found out on the Dartford breaker).
It could be worse, it's 16v, at least you an see the clutch master cylinder, unlike the 24v, hiding under the IM
Anyone else had these issues

Our Clutch has gone bad !
Re: Our Clutch has gone bad !
I had similar problems a couple of years ago. Pedal just went to to the floor. At the time, a new clutch master cylinder was nearly two hundred quid. So got on the internet, and eventually found a repair kit from a Mazda specialist in the US. I think the kit was for an RX7.
Rebuilding it was really easy, like you say the hard part was getting the master cylinder off the car. Mines a 24v, luckily it hasn't got air con. The car was off the road, but the rebuild only lasted about 12 months. The clutch started sticking when the engine had been running for a while and had warmed up. Replaced the slave cylinder, but no joy. So by now the price of master cylinders had come right down. Got one last year, and got it fitted. Up to now, it's still working ok. Car is still of the road, but at least it's mobile now.

I've had it where the Pedal goes to the floor but it's always been a bleeding issue.
Clutch is a pain to bleed as the Procedure is backwards to what your used to doing with the Brakes.

Re: Our Clutch has gone bad !
When you bleed brakes you open the nipple, push the Pedal to move the fluid and close whilst the pedal is still down.
When you do the Clutch you press the pedal down first, then open then nipple to move the fluid then close the nipple.
The Clutch pedal will stay on the floor and will need to be lifed with your toe
Repeat until your happy

I will now have to instruct Elland 57 in the ways of bleeding the clutch,
