It's odd.

Once going, it runs OK, if Smokey.

Getting it going is the problem. Cranks, with spark and fuel, but won't catch when cold.

Replaced fuel filter, plugs, leads, fuel regulator, MAF, fuel pump, dizzy. Can't think of anything else to change!!

Just in case it jogs someone's memory.
Rev counter not working, and fans still kick in when ignition first turned on.

Anyone??

Actually, haven't replaced lambda sensors.

Anyone know where I can get a couple?

i remember reading a old post about setting up the throttle position sensor (tps) if the fan kicks in when ignition is on,doesn't that mean the tps needs adjustment ?
that doesnt explain the rev counter tho

Once it's warmed up will it restart ok?

Thinking possibly the Fuel Pressure Regulator Solenoid might be stuck open. It raises fuel pressure when the engine is cold to help with starting. Try disconnecting the vacuum pipe from the fuel pressure regulator to the solenoid. Plug the end of the pipe with a small bolt, and see if that improves starting

Yes, starts fine when warm. I replaced the regulator and the solenoid yesterday. No difference.

No. I don't have a spare early one to put in. Only a late one. Not sure if there's a difference.
