Air Bag code 33 (passenger air bag)

Post by marsprobe1 » Mon Feb 18, 2019 5:54 pm

Hi guys
Had this problem for a while. Started off very intermittently then got more often until it was a regular feature of my driving pleasure
Anyway, checked out the connector behind the glovebox and gave it a clean with contact cleaner. Still the same. Swapped the diagnostic module for one from my donar car. Still the same, even tried plugging in a spare passenger air bag module. Still the same.
Finally, nailed it down to a loop in the cables from the air bag right down in the passenger footwell behind the lower dash just before it goes into a black connector. There’s two connectors plug into this, blue one from the airbag and an orange one.
Noticed the loop in the cable ( which has a foam protector wrapped around it ) was quite tight, straightened it out and problem solved.
Must have been pinching the wiring I reckon.
Hope this info helps for anyone that comes across the same fault 👍
