Past two drives heater is not heating up, still blows but only freezing air! coolant level is fine and havent had any temp issues. Could this be a thermostat? or possibly a blockage in the heater system?

as you say, it might be a stuck thermostat, it could be stuck open, or you may have an airlock, try having the car tick over and warm up with the cap on the engine removed, heater on full.

The oil cap? Or the cap on the rad?

It's actually on the engine, but not the oil cap, it's a meatal cap, but it isn't sprung like a normal rad cap, that it the other one near the header tank.
Have you remove the one of the engine before?

thanks, just removed it and let it run for a couple of minutes. The air is hot again!

Check the water level once it has cooled down, and top it up to the brim, you may need to remove the other cap too, but replace the one near the header tank first.

Hi Charles.
Very familiar problem to me on my 16v. I dont know if you can get the same issue on a 24v, but the problem was the heater was air locked. You can have a full radiator and everything working fine but no heat. The fix is to disconnect one of the heater hoses, connect a garden hose and push the air out via the radiator cap. Worked a treat. Cant remember the exact way I did it but I must have plugged the open end where you remove the hose or fit a vent pipe to above the rad cap. That done and the heater tested, dont forget the antifreeze.
