1996 16v
The fan slow in cutting in :!:
The pointer on the gauge almost get to the red, ( or about 3 miles), before it drops back to normal.
M
Not losing an coolant :|

So, is it a lazy fan or one of the senors :?:

One of the sensors mate or knackered thermostat

I would say it's a lazy thermostat, probably sticking.

I'd go for thermostat slow opening, had this once.

Sorted, changed the thermostat, had a small issue with a leak on the housing.
So, drained the system, flushed out the system, fresh antifreeze & De-min water. Liquid gasket applied.
All good now
