Hi, just bought a 16v and it needs a new distributor, seen one on eBay but says USA probe 2, would this fit a UK car as it's£75 as opposed to £200 which I've also seen, I think I need S1 it's a 95 build, any advice would be appreciated thanks

Probes were made in USA MK1/MK2 check your dissy cap matches your one and you should be fine ;)
S1/S3 Dissys are different caps your dissy will have S1/S3 sicker on it unless been replaced before

Thanks for the reply, this is what's on the car now, it appears to me to be S1, so will the one in the picture be ok? Thanks

It starts and runs for 15 minutes or so, then dies and won't restart, I got it recovered by a local garage and he couldn't pinpoint the fault as he said the cars too old for his diagnostic machine and it could be several possibilities, as the parts have to be ordered specially, they are non returnable he said, so he suggested I find someone with an old style diagnostic machine and take it from there but as far as I'm aware this is virtually impossible. I've looked through some previous questions on here and it looks to me as if it's the distributor, if it's not at least it rules that out, I'm not mechanically minded so all work will have to be done at a garage. If you think it's worth trying something else first, please tell me, thank you

You dont need to go to a garage to read code faults on the car you need a paper clip
and a led light unfortuntly its in the oracle that only full members can access
Join up its only a tenner and tells how to fault find and replace dissy ;)
And a lot more
