Rear Brakes

Hi all,
I'm still struggling to get my 97 24v back on the road.
Mot failure - 'foot brake effort low - rear'.
I've replaced the calipers, discs and pads and it doesn't seem any better and the handbrake is not great now either.
Is it down to adjustment at the calipers or what else might you suggest we check?
Thanks in advance.
Maria.

You could try to adjust the handbrake cable, remove the centre console and with a 10mm spanner adjust the cable,at the base of the handbrake

It could be a number of things, if you have new discs and pads, then they can take time to bed in, yes it might need some more adjustment on the calliper, the allen key adjuster which is behind the 12mm nut, also as Malcolm says, adjustment of the handbrake will help, but do that after any other adjustments. Another thing, might be air in the system if you changed the callipers, they can be a right pain to bleed at times, or even old fluid. a complete chained of brake fluid and bleeding again wouldn't hurt.

Put 1 click on the handbrake /then adjust the caliper screws both sides
then bleed with the engine running

I had the same thing at my mot eg handbrake barely holding.
I adjusted both rear brakes using the Allan key and no problem

Might it be old oil and gunged up calipers?

Lots to consider, I would start with the easy stuff, which is adjustments to the brakes and handbrake
