Ford Probe 2.0 1994
Should the gearbox/transaxle oil be changed as a matter of routine maintenance.
I shouldn't think mine has ever been changed.
Thanks

Are the crush washers on the drain and fill plugs the same size as the sump lug. If not what size are they

I have removed the filler plug on the transaxle. The washer won't detach from the plug am I right in assuming you cut it off. Also should I replace it with a copper or aluminium washer.

I’ve got a jag XK automatic 2008 The dealer refused point blank to change the oil as it can cause slippage but on the probe I’d highly recommend it. Oil absorbs water from the air which causes an increase in viscosity and a reduction in the oil film so a change on a probe box can only be good and may make changing gear easier and smoother but use a good oil like Castro gtx. Or that’s my theory anyway!
