Probe Unusable -Non Tickover

Post by Incognito » Sun Aug 07, 2022 6:42 pm

I know I've mentioned this on another non related post but I'd like this as a new post please as at the moment I can't use the Probe realistically.
Just to confirm, on fire up, she ticks over low, 500/550 but will idle on start up. Approach any junction/ come to a stop afterwards, the revs drop so low it cuts out every time . So pretty embarrassing in a traffic queue as move forward, cut out etc.
Now I know there was a guide in the oracle regarding changing the tickover, but I can't find it and I recall it bridging the diagnostic box that I've never done before.
Could I have an idiots guide or if someone is passing by before Blackpool please drop in.

Thank you :D

have you checked your coolant level paul as low coolant can cause low idle and cutting out aswell ,,,one of mine used to do exactly the same and it was that the coolant was way too low ;)

The condition on slowing down will pull the highest vacuum conditions so something influenced by that situation may be the cause of your problem.
The MAF unit got to be on the list of checks.

Worth a try, do you have a spare MAF, Paul?

Water levels at all 3 points are correct.

The MAF ...the black drum thing that moves in and out, connected to the airflow system ? As in, mines towards the rear of the engine, connected to my CAI. I'm pretty sure I've got one, if not, Simon can I try yours off the Alpine so that I don't have to disturb the MX6.

Many thanks chaps :D

That's the chappy!

I'll fetch it over, in the meantime, its worth unplugging it (right hand side) cleaning the contacts and popping it back in again
