Hi all I’ve had a difficult ign barrel for quite a while and I’ve decided to change, has anyone managed to remove barrel from
Lock? Seem to be brass pins holding it in, I’ve got the whole shaft
But there is a difference at the barrel end where the immobiliser
Ring fits, basically mine has a black ring and the donor doesn’t
I’m thinking I might not even be able to fit as wiring my be different
Would love some feedback
Thanks in advance

Re: IGN barrel
It looks like you have an early and late one there and by reading your original post, yours is a late one. I would say that you need to use a late ignition.
Also do you intend to use the new lock with a new key? If you do, then you will have to get that key chipped to your current Temic.

Re: IGN barrel
That’s correct,
The one non black ring is a early, & doesn’t have the fixing points for the Temic box, the casting is different.
The one with the black ring is a late lock, with the Temic box fixed to it.
If you have a late car, you have to use your Temic box, as there matched to the ECU
Both barrels should fit on the car, but if you use the earlier one, you will have to fix your Temic box by other mean, cable ties etc

Re: IGN barrel
Ok problem solved, a bit of help from mr codge odery
Basically transferred ring and gubbings onto earlier ign barrel using a bit of black insulation tape, cut and rejoined green wires
Going to electrical plug, put back together and using an old key
Top part(with chip in) against new key( non chipped) she fires up
Just need to get new key cut and reprogrammed tomorrow,
I know just the place
Thanks all for your input
Ps she’s going in for a bit of front end paintwork tues, hope they do a good colour match
