Ford Probe 16v 1994
Hi
Is there a easy way to reduce the noise made by noisy tappets.
Also are the hydraulic valve lifters the same for 16 v and 24v
Thanks

Have you tried HLA flush,
In the passed (MrP) had noisey hla's, I add the HLA flush then I ran the car for a day or two, then did a oil change, then I used a the correct oil for the car, it's alway pays to use top grade oil. Plus I regularly change to oil, either at 3000 mile or at less once a year.

Problem with Hla's there can get blocked if using the incorrect oil, and if to thick oil there won't get any oil into them and will eventually weaken.

On the question are to same HLA's in the 16v and the 24v I can't say that there are without finding the part numbers, but yes they work in the same way,

Just checked on Rockauto's, there are listing the same numbers for 16v and 24v.

Had this problem when I first bought the Flying machine. Refer to mojo to which I will add….
Because I didn’t trust the Tescos cowboy I bought the car from first job was a change of oil for Castro gtx and a flushing additive. After a 1000 miles I changed it again this time for Castro 10w30 as this is the correct grade for Central Europe 5w is thinner than needed. Then I changed the oil every year and slowly, slowly it has got quieter and quieter till now it’s little more than a whisper once it’s warm! Look after the oil, air, fuel and water and the car will look after you.

Does it go away after you have used the car for a while,or every now and again when on tick over.and is the sound on the
left hand side as you look at the engine under the cam cover :?:
