Error code 33 - airbags

Post by Inspector71 » Tue Apr 05, 2022 5:27 pm

Hi all, I've checked the code in the tech database & my code appears to be 33 -passenger airbag. It just came on for no reason over the weekend. 3 flashes pause - 3 flashes.

does anyone know what would be the cause & has anyone else had this issue?

Best regards
Phil.

Possible loose corroded air bag connector, remove the glove box unit and trace the wiring
from air bag, clean the terninals etc (battery off) before start ;)

As Kev says, disconnect battery, and check connection behind glove box

Nice one, thanks all, I'll take a look at the weekend when I'm doing the alternator belt :)

Don’t forget to loosen the alternator pulley bolt before you loosen the alternator tensioner bolt

Well I didnt have to look far, so thanks both :-)
Just below the glovebox, there's a trim panel. Looks like the airbag wiring had snagged - I was the last & only person to sit in the passenger seat before the light came on

Gave a little jiggle, & pushed the connector back together - no more airbag warning light yay!
