rear caliper carrier mounting / ignition issue ?

Post by peterb1126 » Tue Aug 10, 2021 5:38 pm

hi unfortunately my ford probe 2.016v M reg has failed its MOT ... Caliper issues ... apparently they can source a replacement drivers side caliper but also need a " carrier mounting " ... does anybody know where i can source a replacement or refurbished one ... couldnt spot one on E-Bay .. any advice appreciated ... thanks peterb
my other Ford PROBE also 2.0l 16v is mysteriously cutting out randomely when stopping at lights or junction .. removing key several times and then shoving back works but obviously worrying ... new battery fitted and terminal connections sorted but still does it ....HELP !

Ask CPT - black for a caliper.

Cutting out, more than likely a Dizzy issue

Hi... and thanks for responding... will speak to the garage and get back to you... have a spare Distributor ... had to dismantle / break up my original Probe as it was rotting underneath ... loads of parts /panels etc in the garage but no caliper carrier mounting !

Your MoT'd car has a complete caliper fitted ?
Therefor it must have a caliper mounting plate.

The cutting out, as Duncan says, probably dizzy, but check your coolant level as this can affect low idle/cutting out at a stop.

Do you still have the factory fob with the car that you have to press before you can start the car? If you do, I would suggest that the immobiliser is by-passed / repaired depending on your preference, as it will only cause you more issues in time with the new distributor
