Iac valve faulty?

Post by Chris-p » Thu Jul 22, 2021 9:18 pm

Hi everyone,
Started to dig a little deeper into my high idle issue on the 24v.

I took the throttle body and iac valve out and noticed that one of the coolant ports was totally blocked, so sorted that.

But checked the wax stat operation and it didnt seem to move with hot water. In the pic below what position should it sit in when cold?

Hi, another member had the same issue few weeks ago with high revs, traced to the IAC,
When it was removed from the car, you could blew/suck air through it, which you shouldn't be able to
I took him a spare tb/iac, job sorted

Try blowing through it via the top branch (as show in the above pic) if you can its goosed

Here is the pic of my spare, does the position look the same

Plus now that you have removed it have you got the correct IAC gasket to fit it back together

Hi, ive cleaned both ports out properly so no issues there, cant really make out the spring position in your pic, heres a close up of my one...

No i dont have a new seal or gasket for rebuild, not sure where tk get them, so will just have to hope they dont leak. Tbh im surprised at parts availability on probes, seem quite difficult to get a lot if things.

If you know of anywhere to source gaskets please let me know.

So looking at that, they look in same position when cold, does yours move much with boiling water?

when i did mine i filled it with carb cleaner and let stand for 4 hours, and then checked
the feed pipe and put the pipe from the EGR valve direct to the IAC

Ok so the egr line is blocked it seems, the pipe that feeds the egr is also possibly blocked, tried to blow thru it and it was solid? Assume thats thermostat housing?
