Engine oil

Is it ok to use 5w 30 fully synthetic oil in a 16v probe.
My 94 16v bought new was always semi synthetic though my 97 24v is fully synthetic. After 285k on Castrol GTX semi synthetic the oil colour was perfect and barely any tappet noise.
The 5 relates to its viscosity and though 5 is ok it is an artic grade and a 10 is fine for the UK. I moved from 5 to 10 and its quietened the tappets down which is nice. When I got the car in 2014 they were noisy, but an annual oil change, some STP and raising the grade has sorted that out so its got to be hot and idling for me to hear them at all.
