Hi All, Hope you are all well ? My Dad owns a 16v Probe which has failed its MOT, one garage has quoted £500 to fix :/ the other garage i went to to get another quote says he is having problems sourcing the parts, Is there any particular place to get parts for them? Ideally he would like to sell it but i guess he would need to get it through the MOT first. Any advise would be greatly appreciated Reg is A19 DWS

Im in Northamptonshire, My dads concern is the car probably isnt worth too much more IF £500 lol

I will list what it failed on its MOT:

parking brake lever has excessive movement
Drive shaft joint constant velocity boot split or insecure, no longer prevents the ingress of dirt offisde front inner
Suspension arm pin or bush worn - Near front inner & Offside rear
Parking brake inoperative on one side near rear
Parking brake efficiency below requirement

The biggest problem is the car sits in a garage, it has done 50 miles in the past year and wont do much this year, we know its worse for a car to sit and does more damage than good

Do you sell......do you fix......do you sell as spares...... i dont know lol

Would like a bit more detail on the “worn bush”

I also think that there isn't much wrong with it, you might be able to get some people to help out. As Duncan (Kit) says, until to strip some of it down, it's hard to tell if you need replacements or just lubricating?

What is the rest of it like, is the paint ok and the interior?

Not failed on much I would say CV boot and pin brushes are the words jobs but obtainable bits and £500 sounds a lot of cash for just labour

Inside needs a good clean but perfect otherwise, outside needs tlc..... Lots of tlc
