Optimum oil fill level

Post by fuerte » Fri Oct 26, 2018 4:27 pm

Things change as we all learn.I was under impression following advice that oil level on 24v should be taken to the f slightly above the max but the mechanic I took it to took it dead on to the full.I told him what I had been advised and he said he didnt recommend overfilling.
So what is the latest thoughts on the matter please.

4mm MAXIMUM above the F is ok just, 4mm below the F is time to add some more oil , QUICK.
I don't need to tell you the Probe can hurt you if you ignore oil levels.

I am sticking with what I have always down then on letter f and never below max.Worked for me for 3 probes as never lost oil at that level for miles and engines always been sound.Only problem is when gaskets,o ring and oil pressure switch went which just age and wear and tear I guess.
Thanks for advice guys
Plus useful for new members to add this info to our website that a lot of us take for granted and update as necessary.
Thanks again

I always went with 2mm above F. I think this comes from when there was a track day, and someone fried their engine. Constant hard cornering had starved the engine of oil.
