Inner CV joint boot split

Hi All - was wondering if anyone can estimate the garage cost of replacing a CV joint boot? One of mine has a big split - drivers side inner on the diff output I think?
I took it to the best garage Here has to offer - he looked admiringly at the car, said he worked on them years ago but said he couldn't quote until he had it up for a look.
I've tried eBay for new CV Boot - the garage guy said don't get the cheap rubbery ones as they will split in no time.
I was surprised to find my local Ford Garage couldn't help - When I had a Merc 190D not long ago, there was nothing the dealership couldn't get!
Thanks All.

Inner boots are easy to replace, you don't even need to remove the drive shaft from the the car.
Don't let any garage tell you otherwise
Simply split the inner joint, undo the hub/strut bolts.
Swing the hub/driveshaft out the way, remove surclip at the end of the shaft, slid off the " ball cage", replace boot, till with grease, put it back together, job done.

I did go through the delete post process cos I wasn't sure - seems to have posted anyway.
Thought it may help the next person with the same question

Hmm - think I'll have to read the ol' manual and see how painful it is - you make replacing a boot sound easy!
