A lot of people swear by additives like cataclysm, assume you've already changed oil & plugs

Believe an oem catalytic converter is nigh on essential for a mot pass too

A proper tech should be along shortly to give definitive answers

Change the Spark Plugs, Air Fliter
pull the Codes
may need to O2 sensors

I`ve never used any additives, Few year ago one of my probes was just passed on emission, and the test told me to get my engine tuned, but i didnt and the next year it flew thro the emissions, the tester asked me what i did, told me changed to plugs and both o2 sensors, and I always give the car a blast and get them really hot and then take it in and make them do the emissions straight away. and I have no issues

Has the car got an OME cat or a ‘cheap’ Aftermarket one :?: , these do struggle after a few years

My emissions issue was caused by a faulty connection on the ECU. Faulty connection was caused by corrosion on the contacts.

Not sure you can buy an OEM one any longer, but after market ones are available on eBay from about £50.

Remember,
There's two sizes of CAT on 16V

400mm early
440mm late
