Hi all,
Was cleaning and polishing my glass driving light lenses, refreshing all of the front bulbs, but can’t seem to get the driving lights to illuminate with the main beam when the car is idle. Under what circumstance should driving lights illuminate? I am yet to check fuses and relays but if the lights are supposed to illuminate only if the car is moving, for example, then I must try that. Apologies if that seems a rather silly question, but not entirely sure about these lights and their operating procedure.
Kindest regards,
Matt

Hi Matt,
They should work whenever you put the main beam on.
If they are not, then you need to check that 12v is getting to the lights, but use a separate earth.
If they are both not working, then I would say that it is a common point that is applicable to both.
I will try to look at a manual

Re: Driving lights (lower bumper) Function
Thank you for the reply. If that’s the case, both aren’t getting 12V as they’re completely dead. The contacts seem to be fairly good and the crimped ends of that single connector to the H3 bulbs don’t seem to have been damaged. There is a possibility that both bulbs blew simultaneously, or that a relay/fuse has perished. I can have a dig around tomorrow and see if I’ve got a spare ammeter to test the contacts.

According to the workshop manual the driving lights are fed from a 15A fuse as shown in the first picture and shown in the battery junction box in the RHD extract under P/D 15A

Thank you, very helpful diagram. I’ll check the fuses and see if there’s anything amiss, I will try and pick up some cheap H3 bulbs to check if both have simply perished at the same time, as I must admit I don’t actually know if they every worked in my ownership, I had always assumed that these were fog lights.
