interior lights update

Post by paulinpoole » Sat Nov 09, 2024 6:25 pm

hi all, bit of a mystery
tonight i got out the car to open my garage door & the interior lights came on as usual, when i got back in car the lights didn't go off, i opened & closed doors boot bonnet but they wont go off, there was also a burning smell in the car, pulled the roof bulb out they all went out then flickered and the footwell ones came back on & wouldn't go off, put the bulb in & out again, now nothing, i put the car in the garage & disconnected the battery for now, for battery drain or worse.
Is there a module for the interior lights somewhere ? or is it all controlled inc dimmer in the roof interior light
where is the fuse ? i can pull out for now, under the bonnet or is it on the inside fuse panel
Any ideas anyone, thanks in advance

The white CPU that's clipped to the footwell fuse box.
Controls these.

Thanks Dunc
On investigation today i checked all wiring (i can get too) everything that's connected to that circuit, one by one unplugging & trying, stereo, clock, under bonnet light, boot light, roof/map light, sun visor vanity lights. Everything is ok. Except for the glovebox bulb which seems dead when tried new bulbs.( past post on forum)
Can someone tell me what makes the interior boot light come on when you open the boot please, i found 2 wires connected to the latch, disconnected the plug, tried it with no difference, but dont know if thats for the boot light or central locking.
And completely disconnected the extra LED lights i connected up to the circuit ( thinking i could of overloaded the circuit or a earthing fault )
At the end of this i was looking at the fusebox/cpu kit said about and i found this :(
so there was a problem and ive disconnected the extra lights i put in, so back to the standard car wiring now, so should be fine.
has anyone got this cpu/fusebox part they can sell me pretty please, kit ?
will put a post in wanted section.

I’ve got my ecu from kit (thanks mate) however I have not put it in yet, the fuse is out for now, but now I have the door open warning light on dash even tho all doors boot & bonnet are shut
I don’t want to put in the new ecu untill I know it’s safe to.
I know the door switches are fine, can someone tell me how the interior lighting is activated when the bonnet & boot are opened as there’s no courtesy switches like on the doors, thank you

update, after going through all the possibilities again & finding nothing wrong i put in the ecu and all seems good, fingers crossed :)

Q so ... how does the interior courtesy lighting work on the boot & bonnet ? is it in the latch ? be interesting to know :)
