Re: Gear change
Thanks everyone. Seems to have been a lot of interest in the topic, so I hope everyones contribution has been helpful to anyone with similar symptoms. We now know what to check first. I would add to check the small buhes of the UJ (stalk end from memory) if you have got sloppy gear selection. I fixed that about 8 years ago with some bushes kindly donated by Malcolm.
THe only question in my mind is that I described two sticky positions going into neutral and going into the next chosen gear. Going into nuetral has largely dissapeared so given that its every gear, I think thats down to the lighter oil. Stuart did say that a thicker oil can be cloying on the synchro and cause a suction, so I think thats where the improvement comes from. It likes to dwell for a split second in neutral but usually slips in nicely these days.
Much nicer car to drive now as the season starts
